why I chose Columbia college chicago as one of my safety schools...
I profiled Columbia College Chicago as one of my safety schools because I appreciate all the opportunities they provide and I feel like I would enjoy attending this school, yet I also feel that it would be a better choice to go to school in LA or NYC because there are more opportunities for work and relationships to build that will lead to my future success. I’m also in the upper part of their SAT score ranges and average GPA for accepted students. This school accepts 82% of students that apply, so I think that the odds of getting accepted are in my favor. I like that this school has a lot more diversity in the variations of their programs. There are also many other opportunities for activities and sports than most of the other art/design schools have (which can becoming a determining factor when choosing between one or another). In addition, there are higher stats for students that live on campus compared to other schools I’ve looked at which can make a difference in the connections and people I’ll be exposed to. The tuition is significantly lower than other prestigious design schools which may mean less debt in my future, especially considering that the average financial aid package is more than half the original price. I like the fact that it’s a medium sized school - not too small, not too large!
