Why i chose f.i.d.m. as one of my top schools...
I profiled FIDM as one of my match schools based on the fact that I meet their academic requirements, I am confident in my chances of being accepted, and because of how well it fits what I'm looking for in a school based on my interests/priorities. I value the access to active industry professionals as professors and the support that comes out of the experience based upon the connections and opportunities I’m able to take advantage of (ex/ internship programs, part-time work opportunities, etc.) I think that FIDM would be a great fit for me because of its fast paced and specialized environments. The project-based curriculum that I’ve thrived in throughout high school is very similar to the learning style of FIDM and is something I highly value. It seems to be a more personalized experience which is what I have come to love about my high school. Therefore, FIDM will allow me to have a much more inviting and enjoyable experience as compared to a traditional college or university. The major I’m considering is Merchandise Product Development. I chose this over Fashion Design because I would like to gain experience in both the design and business aspects of developing, marketing, and selling apparel. My goals after studying at FIDM include working my way up the latter to achieve a major design or business role in the industry, or to end up working in costuming and becoming highly involved with local LA movie and TV studios. My plans after achieving my Associates Degree include continuing a third year into the Costume Design for TV and Film program and finishing up my last 18 months working towards my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. The campus I would like to study at is also located in the heart of Los Angeles which is one of the fashion capitals of the world which is extremely beneficial to the lengths of my success in the future. Their career system and program is excellent in helping alumni find work for the rest of their lives which is much more than other design school’s career departments offer.
